Recently, we successfully completed the shipment of 8 units of 40ft dropside semi-trailers to Colombia, serving a local logistics company that specializes in transporting bulk agricultural products and construction materials. This case details the whole process from demand confirmation to on-site delivery, ensuring compliant and efficient cross-border transportation.
First, we confirmed the client’s core needs and strictly followed Colombia’s import regulations, including obtaining the SNCA certification and general Certificate of Origin (CO) since preferential origin certificates are not available for China-Colombia trade. We chose container shipping from Yantian Port to Cartagena Port, a direct route with a voyage of 38-42 days arranged by MSC. The trailers were semi-disassembled to fit 40GP containers, with firm fixation using steel wire ropes and cushion blocks to avoid damage. We prepared all required documents in Spanish, including commercial invoices and packing lists, to facilitate customs clearance. After the goods arrived at Cartagena Port, we cooperated with a local customs broker to complete import procedures efficiently.
Finally, the trailers were delivered to the client safely within 45 days, meeting their transportation needs and winning their trust. This case provides practical experience for shipping dropside semi-trailers to Colombia.
