Recently, we successfully completed a shipment of 5 units of 3-axle 13.75m curtain side semi-trailers to Malaysia, delivering the goods from Qingdao Port to Port Klang smoothly. This case summarizes the practical experience, key points and solutions during the shipping process, providing a reference for trailer manufacturers and traders who plan to ship to Malaysia.

The client, a logistics company in Selangor, Malaysia, needed curtain side semi-trailers for local bulk cargo transportation, requiring compliance with Malaysia’s road safety standards and timely delivery within 25 days. We first confirmed the trailer specifications: 3-axle, 13.75m length, high-strength steel structure, equipped with reliable brake and lighting systems, which fully met Malaysia’s weight and dimension limits.
For shipping methods, we chose Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) shipping, which is more efficient and cost-effective for wheeled cargo like curtain side semi-trailers. We cooperated with a freight forwarder with rich experience in Malaysia routes, booked space in advance, and confirmed the departure from Qingdao Port on schedule and arrival at Port Klang within 18 days.

Document preparation is the key to smooth customs clearance. We prepared all required documents, including commercial invoice, packing list, export declaration, CCC and ISO certifications, and certificate of origin. We carefully checked the consistency of document information to avoid delays caused by incorrect data—Malaysia’s customs inspection is strict, and any document error may lead to long-term detention.

In the inland transportation and port handover stage, we used professional tractors to transport the 5 semi-trailers to Qingdao Port, and completed loading under the guidance of port staff. During the shipping period, we provided real-time tracking for the client, updating the shipment status every 3 days. After arriving at Port Klang, we assisted the client in completing local customs clearance and arranged local transportation to deliver the trailers to their warehouse in Selangor.
This shipment was completed 2 days ahead of schedule, with no damage or delay. It proves that reasonable logistics planning, compliance with local regulations and careful document preparation are the core of successful shipping of curtain side semi-trailers to Malaysia.
